An Ellon woman is one of the latest intake of Sparrows Group apprentices to showcase their work on the East Anglia ONE offshore wind project as part of National Apprenticeship Week.
Aberdeenshire East MSP Gillian Martin attended the trainees’ graduation ceremony last week and toured the Sparrows workshop where the group presented their work on the project.
Sparrows is currently in the process of delivering 102 cranes for installation at ScottishPower Renewables’ 714 megawatt East Anglia ONE offshore wind farm. The group of 14 apprentices - including Ellon’s Leanne Brown - features four personnel who have become the first to complete the company’s business and admin modern apprenticeship, were awarded certificates in disciplines including engineering, design and draughting. Gillian Martin presented certificates alongside Matt Corbin, regional operations director – Europe, who commented: “The variety of courses and disciplines represented today reflects that there are multiple routes to development in any role and this is something we actively encourage.”
