An Ellon bakery is celebrating after winning awards in a national competition.
The Ythan Bakery, which was shortlisted for the Scottish Baker of the Year, received a silver award for its bridies and its wholemeal bread was highly commended.
The business, in the town’s Bridge Street, is owned by Dawn and Michael Gillan and has 25 staff.
Mrs Gillan said: “We are over the moon to receive these awards. It was a great achievement to reach this stage and we would like to thank all our customers and also our staff.”
The Scottish Baker of the Year Awards, held on Saturday (May 12), was devised by Scottish Bakers to raise awareness of the bakery industry.
Customers across Scotland voted for their best bakery products during March and the top 30 in each of the five categories were baked and delivered to Fife for judging by independent experts.
Artisan baker and television judge Paul Hollywood, who presented the awards, said “It has given me great pleasure to be involved in this competition.
“There have been some fantastic entries and all the prizes I have handed out to bakers have been worthy in every way.”
