Shoppers turned out in force recently as the brand new Aldi store in Inverurie opened its doors for the first time.

Over 140 shoppers queued up prior to the official opening by store manager John Riddell, hoping to be one of those to get their hands on a lucky “Golden Ticket”.

To celebrate, golden envelopes containing special tickets to win prizes including a 21.5” TV and DVD Combi, Portable DVD players and luxury bags of Aldi shopping were handed out to the first one hundred people in the queue. Donna Morrison took home the star prize with many others walking away with great store products.

Aldi has recruited 15 members of staff for the Inverurie store so far, and say it iis targeting a total of 30 jobs with recruitment taking place immediately. Details on store positions and how to apply can be found online at The store, located at the old Inverurie Loco Works site, is served by 128 car parking spaces and features around 1,350 product lines, where customers can expect a wide range of high quality and locally sourced produce.

Aldi Store Manager, John Riddell, commented: “My team and I very much enjoyed welcoming our new customers to the store; the turnout on the day was fantastic, with 100 people walking away with a prize.

“We hope the shoppers enjoyed our celebrations and we’re looking forward to welcoming further shoppers to the store in the coming months.”

The Aldi store at Harlaw Road is open Monday to Saturday 8am – 9pm, and Sunday from 10am – 7pm.
