A leading north-east engineering firm is bucking the wider oil and gas industry trend after announcing a £250,000 investment to enhance its existing pressure testing capability.

SengS, an independent engineering and services specialist, has now invested more than £3.5million over the past two years in developing its Ellon premises.

This latest quarter of a million outlay has allowed SengS to develop a 60ft test rig capable of testing risers, casings and drill pipe.

The rig, which was designed and built in-house within four weeks, enables clients to perform multiple tests at a time; saving time and money.

The company has also installed a 7.8m diameter x 5.8m high external water test tank, which will be used to conduct system testing for wellhead equipment, remotely operated underwater vehicles (ROVs) and subsea components.

Murray Kerr, founder and managing director of SengS, said: “Coupled with the £3.5 million invested in the business over the past two years, these latest additions will allow us to offer a complete testing service and add further value to our clients’ operations by increasing productivity and reducing costs.”
