An ABERDEENSHIRE MSP has called on ministers to introduce another round of assistance to help breathe new life into towns in the area.
North East Conservative Nanette Milne said the original regeneration fund helped fund local improvements in Stonehaven, Fraserburgh, Macduff, and Oldmeldrum.
She added: “In these tough economic conditions it is even more important that we give our town centres a much-needed boost and that is why I am calling on the SNP to introduce further funding.
“A recent report by Mary Portas into our High Streets found that many of them are either failing or dying out and it is clear we must do something to save these town centres from being permanently damaged.
“The North-east is home to some of the most beautiful towns in Scotland and although some of them have received funding in the past, it is vital that this is maintained so they do not slip into disrepair.
The MSP said that by funding another round of the Town Centre Regeneration Fund and investing in rejuvenating High Streets it would help businesses to flourish in difficult economic times.
