Ellon and District Councillor Gillian Owen has called for more to be done to try and tackle the issue of lorries parking in the town’s Balmacassie Business Park.
Councillor Owen has raised the issue of the parked lorries in the past but after recently receiving several complaints from local residents she is once again pushing for a solution.
Councillor Owen said: “I saw for myself this week the chaos caused by Lorries parking in Balmacassie Brae.
“It seems to be a growing problem particularly during the week and it may be due to local contractors.
“I have received a number of complaints from local businesses and residents walking their dogs.”
Currently the roads within the Business Park are not adopted and so the Police are not able to ask the drivers to move their vehicles.
Councillor Owen previously contacted developer Bill Bruce who then installed large boulders to try and prevent the lorries from parking.
However, boulders are not enough of a deterrent.
Councillor Owen said: “I was disappointed to note that Lorries seem to ignore the boulders and either move them or drive on the pavement to park behind them.
“I have again contacted Mr Bruce regarding this matter and hope to meet with him to see what more can be done.
She added: “I have also contacted one of the haulage companies, who seem to be one of the prime offenders, asking to have a chat about this issue to see what can be done to help find a solution.”
“I have also raised this with NESTRANS again asking what provision can be made for a lorry park somewhere along the Energetica corridor which could alleviate this problem locally.”
