The owners of popular Foveran shop The Store has announced that it will close "with immediate effect".
In a post on the shop's Facebook page, Andrew and Debbie Booth, said: "It is with great sadness that we have decided to close The Store after 17 years with immediate effect.
"Unfortunately, The Store has been unable to successfully navigate recent challenging trading conditions.
"We now plan to re-focus on our core business activities including our farming and renewable energy enterprises.
"We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our customers, suppliers and staff past and present for making The Store and helping enforce the message that shopping local is best way to live."
Commenting on the news, Foveran resident and local SNP Councillor for Ellon & District Richard Thomson said: "This is really sad news. The Store has a well deserved local and national reputation for high quality produce and service. It will certainly be missed.
"I wish the Booth family well with their many other local business interests.
"Although Foveran is set to grow rapidly in the months ahead, it is now a village without a shop of its own. With the impending completion of the AWPR and local link roads and the anticipated growth in population from new housing, perhaps the opportunity to cater to a slightly different market might prove to be an attractive option in the future."
