This year’s Spectacular at the Thainstone Centre, Inverurie, on Wednesday, September 5 has an outstanding selection of entries from across the country.
Aberdeen & Northern Marts have assembled one of the strongest line-ups seen for years with 100 animals, including no fewer than eight cross cattle champions from the summer show circuit. The Spectacular has steadily grown in stature to become one of the highlights of the agricultural year, attracting competitors and buyers from all points of the UK.
Its reputation as a showcase for the best exhibition animals around is underlined by previous successes such as in 2009 when the supreme champion, Hanky Panky, went on to be the supreme champion at that year’s AgriLive Smithfield.
The event is sponsored by the Clydesdale Bank with a prize fund of more than £3,000 and a large array of trophies for the winners.
Among those taking part this year is regular exhibitor Andrew Anderson of Smallburn Farms, Plewlands, Duffus, Elgin in Moray who will have 19 entries forward.
Leading his consignment is Black Caviar, an outstanding February-born Limousin cross heifer by Smallburn’s highly successful French stock bull Brian.
