Busy year ahead for Inverurie Events

Inverurie Events held their AGM last Wednesday, (April 23) where trustees and organisers for the new year were elected.

The trustees are as follows: Chairman: Cllr Hamish Vernal; Secretary: Neil Baillie; Treasurer: Glen Reid; Organiser: Charlie McCorry.

Chairman Hamish Vernal reported on a successful year for the organisation, including the refurbishment and purchase of new Christmas lights for the town. He noted that they had received quite a few suggestions for 2014 Christmas Weekender in Inverurie. 2013’s Christmas Weekender incorporating the St Andrew’s Day Parade was the a success, and suggestions were noted for an increase the number of arts and craft stalls.

Secretary Neill Baillie was pleased to announce that the group had been successful in an application to the Garioch Areas top-up fund for £2500 towards an Inverurie Mens Shed Grotto, Saltire flags and video editing for a 40th anniversary event for Inverurie Community Centre, in association with the Inverurie Community Development Group and Xpressions Dance Group.

He also reported that, sadly the Colony Park FC fundraising event scheduled for May 4 had been cancelled but that Colony Park have asked for assistance from Inverurie Events in organising future fundraisers.

Inverurie Events will also help set up the Independent Retailers Day on July 4 in association with I4U. Inverurie Events will be able to hold a bucket collection during the day.

Inverurie Events will also hold the Music Gala Day on Sunday, June 15 and the World of Words between August 29 and September 7.
