ELLON Community Council has thanked the town’s residents for the turnout to the recent ‘Can’t Cook, Won’t Cook’ event.

Community councillor Sandra Topp said: “We had an excellent evening which has raised around £500 towards the town’s Christmas Lights fund.

“Allain from Pampered Chef did a brilliant job steering our ‘willing’ chefs, Derek Ritchie and Rob Merson, into producing fantastically tasting ‘Green Ranch Pizzas’ - though they produced a good few laughs and much entertainment to the audience through their antics in the ‘Red’ and ‘Yellow’ kitchens in the process!

“The Community Council were delighted that such a good crowd of well-kent local faces were in the audience and would like to extend heartfelt thanks to Derek, Rob and Allain for giving up their time for the event.

“We would also like to appreciatively thank Cis Junor, Alison Astley, Sue Higginson and others for helping out on the evening, providing lots of tasty homebakes and donating items for the raffle, also the following local businesses for their generous donations to the raffle:

D M Repairs, Ice Cream & Coffee Pot, Nosheen Indian Restaurant, Serenity Health & Beauty and Shiraz Hair Salon.”

Winner on the night was Derek Ritchie, after an exceptionally close public vote. Cllr Merson graciously conceded defeat, saying: “It was good fun, and I’m very happy to have maintained my unblemished record of failure in the kitchen!”
