A local school will celebrate its 50th anniversay next month and two special events are to be held to mark the milestone occasion.

Barthol Chapel School will turn 50 on Wednesday, May 23.

An open afternoon will be held on the anniversary date and members of the community are welcome to visit the school, view old photographs, documents and enjoy refreshments and performances from the current pupils.

On the same day, the grand unveiling of the new garden for the school’s 50th anniversary will take place.

The school received £420.50 from the Formartine Partnership which will go towards the development of the community garden.

Pupils are working with the local community to knit their own bunting to decorate the school and so far they have managed to knit around 70 pieces.

The school has received great help from members of the Barthol Chapel Community who have helped out with the project.

Meanwhile a family and community Disco has been organised for the school, local community and past pupils to enjoy on Friday, April 27.

The school would like to make contact with as many former pupils and staff as possible.
