Celebrity chef Nick Nairn will be teaming up with fellow cook Lesley Waters and larger-than-life star Russell Grant on stage for two performances of Ready Steady Cook Live! at Aberdeen’s Music Hall in February.
The long-awaited tour of the UK’s most successful TV cookery show will see different chefs at each venue work against the clock to prepare a meal, backed up by the classic competing Red Tomato/Green Pepper kitchens, with the audience voting for their favourite.
As the youngest Scottish chef to win a Michelin star in the early 1990s, Nick was a familiar face on Ready Steady Cook from 1995, and has appeared on a range of television programmes, including a stint as the main presenter on the BBC Scotland programme Landward from 2007 to 2009.
He has written a number of books and columns for newspapers and magazines and launched Aberdeen’s Nick Nairn Cook School in April 2000.
Nick was also awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Stirling in 2007 for his contributions to Scottish cooking and healthy eating campaigns.
Executive chef Lesley has been in over 500 editions of the television series and currently appears on ITV’s This Morning.
Formerly head tutor of Leith’s School of Food & Wine, Lesley has written countless cookery books, is a qualified fitness instructor and a mother of two.
Celebrity Russell won the nation’s hearts back in the 2011 series of Strictly Come Dancing and will bring a dash of showbiz to the show as the host.
He has enjoyed huge success in the West End and on tour, starring in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s West End production of The Wizard of Oz, Teen Angel in Grease and in Midnight Tango with his Strictly dance partner Flavia Cacace.
Russell said: “I can’t wait to get on the road with all these amazing chefs and see what they magic up!
“I’ll be bringing in my own brand of Strictly showbiz – a bit of Salsa whilst they make the salsa, whisking meringue while doing the Merengue!”
During the show the audience can get tips from the chefs, enjoy some insider gossip on making the TV series and will have the chance to ask the chefs ‘burning’ questions on preparing better meals.
