Aberdeenshire Council has submitted an application to create a new cemetery on the outskirts of Ellon.
The application seeks planning permission for the new cemetery and car park using agricultural land on the A948 to the north of the town.
The land included in the application is 4.53 hectares and it is hoped that the new cemetery would add to the current site on the town’s Castle Road.
The new proposed cemetery site would provide 6281 lairs and 717 casket lairs.
There will also be a total of 36 car parking spaces and six disabled parking spaces.
The site plan will include a small shelter that people can use to meet others before or after a service.
Small trees and a boundary hedge of Beech will also be included to provide screening and shelter within the cemetery.
