A group of Co-Op colleagues are taking part in a charity abseil after their colleague suffered a serious stroke last year, leaving him unable to return to work.
The 15 workmates will take part in the challenge on Sunday, June 10, to raise money for Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland.
Laura Chen, one of the 15 brave participants, worked at the Esslemont Ellon store with Ian.
She said: “We were all shocked and saddened when we heard about Ian’s stroke.
“He was a wonderful colleague and friend to many across the Aberdeenshire stores.
“We wanted to do something to show our support for Ian during his recovery.
“Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland seemed like an obvious choice. It is a charity close to my heart as my Dad has sadly suffered two strokes and I know the effect it can have on people and their families.”
“We are really excited and nervous to be taking on the 165ft drop from the bridge but we’re doing it for Ian and that’s what counts.”
Throughout the month of June a number of employees from the 18 stores across Aberdeenshire will be holding fundraising events for CHSS to further show their support for Ian and the charity.
