St Mary-on-the-Rock welcomed around 35 people, made up of service users and staff, to its service on Tuesday, December 11.

The service featured Christmas carols and the Nativity story.

Everyone at the service sang along to carols including Little Donkey and Away in a Manger.

For the final carol, Calypso Carol, various percussion instruments were handed out to enable everyone to join along with the church organ.

The service was led by assistant priest Rev Carole Fox and featured rector Rev Dennis Berk.

After the Christmas service was over everyone headed across to the church hall for some delicious tea and refreshments,

Speaking to the Times Carole said: “We have a Mothers’ Union branch at the church and we like to invite the Resource Centre users here for a Christmas service every year.

“We also hold a service for them in April for Easter.”

St Mary-on-the-Rock is busy preparing for its busy festive period.

A Christmas Eve Crib Service will be held at 4pm, with refreshments from 3.30pm, and its Midnight Mass will be held on Christmas Eve at 11.30pm.

Eucharist for Christmas will be held on Christmas Day at 11am, with Christmas carols and readings at 11am on Sunday, December 30 .
