It will be all hands on deck at the Victoria Hall this Sunday (June 7) when Ellon Cinema volunteers hold their first Pirate Day.
With a big prize raffle, children’s art area, face-painting, pirate tattoo bar, Caribbean food, cakes, spices and more there will be something for “pirates” of all ages.
However, the main attraction of the day will be the arrival of one very special visitor.
Organiser Vicki Morgan explained: “We are absolutely thrilled to announce we will be visited by the world’s number one Captain Jack Sparrow lookalike, Simon Newton.
“Simon has doubled for Johnny Depp in The Pirates of the Caribbean films and has his look, voice and mannerism down to a tee. When people see him they won’t believe it’s not Mr Depp himself.
“He is scheduled to arrive at midday and we are all very excited.”
All visitors are encouraged to don pirate attire, even if just an eyepatch and for the children there will be a fancy dress competition judged by Captain Sparrow himself at 2pm.
Little ones can start the fun early by joining in with the Captain Sparrow’s Hunt the Pirate activity, where eight little pirates have to be found hiding in shop windows around Ellon.
Sheets can be purchased now for £1 from Grays and J&K Shoes and once completed and handed in on the day, the participant will receive some treasure. There will also be a free prize draw to win a bucket of pirate goodies.
Vicki said: “None of this would have been possible had it not been for the generous sponsorship of Jenny Angus and everyone at the Torran Truck Stop and we’d like to thank them very much for all their support.”
The day kicks off at 11am and finishes at 4pm. Proceeds will go to Ellon Cinema Fund. For details like the “Ellon Pirate Day” event on Facebook.
