Sixteen teams from 10 clubs and organisations competed in the Middleton Trust Junior Quiz in Ellon’s Royal British Legion.
Golf Club were the winners with a score of 116, earning them a cheque for £224, runners up were Netball’s “B” team with a score of 110 with Junior Rugby’s “A” team a close third with 107 points.
Altogether the Trust handed over cheques worth a total of £2,200.
Although Golf were the overall winners of the quiz, their cheque was less than that of some of the other clubs represented as they only had one team.
The biggest cheque of £319.50 went to Junior Rugby for their two teams. Netball’s two teams were awarded £310.
Other teams received:
£292.50 to Ythan Swimming; £255 to the Meadows Football; £250.50 to the Hendry School of Dance; £186 to Junior Jog; £157.50 to Cricket; £132 to Ythan Cycle Club and £84 to Active Schools Athletics.
Trust chairman Ean Mackie said: “Once again every club who took part were winners walking away with a cheque towards their running costs no matter where they finished in the quiz.
“The losers on the night were those clubs who didn’t take part or indeed didn’t even take the trouble to answer the invite.”
He appealed for anyone who knew of a company or business interested in providing sponsorship for the Trust’s Fun Run and Road Race in September to ask them to get in contact.
