A MEETING is to be held to decide the future of the Ellon Community Crèche, after the facility closed its doors for the last time just before Christmas.
CLD spokeswoman Sally Sheehan told the Times that the closure had taken place for a variety of reasons, and that efforts were being made to establish an alternative.
She said: “Community Learning and Development and the Childcare@Home service will be holding a meeting for families to discuss the possibility of the crèche reopening – under new management. Families can attend the meeting in the Community Centre on January 30 at 10am.”
The Community Crèche operated for more than 25 years, providing a childminding service for parents with appointments and other commitments. The Times reported last year on the withdrawal of council funding, and efforts by parents to keep the facility open.
Anyone who is interested in using the crèche but cannot attend the meeting is asked to contact Maureen Rennie on 01467 641000, or Sally Sheehan on 01358 729237.
