ELLON’S young musicians have raised over £400, after a concert event at Ellon Academy entitled ‘The Big Bang’ party.
Eight young bands came forward to perform on the night, with a selection of music across genres catering to a youthful audience. The event, organised by the bands themselves, follows a similar event held last year which also proved a big hit with the town’s budding music stars.
Youth Worker Mark Mitchell told the Times: “The party was a great success! The participants managed to source other young people to do the lighting, the sound board and even the filming of the event, with a live feed backstage to show the other bands the current band playing.
We also had Ellon Youth Action Group running a tuck shop, selling raffles and glow sticks! We think we may have raised in excess of £400.00, though a final count is still needed. These funds will be used to further develop Ellon Music Project at the Ythan Centre.
“The event was a great success and the young people should be really proud of all the hard work they put in.
