Cookery demo at SWI meeting

Culsalmond SWI’s meeting in November was a prelude to the festive season with a ‘Party Time’ cookery demonstration by Anne Rendall.

It was hard to say which was better, the cookery or the commentary, but both were hugely enjoyed by a healthy turn-out of members and some very welcome visitors.

Anne was ably assisted by her sister, Ali Shand, who added her own pithy comments as necessary.

They both kindly judged competition entries, which turned out to be the President’s finest hour as she won all three categories.

Results were as follows:

Flower of the Month: Roberta Burnett; Savoury Dip: 1 Roberta Burnett; 2 Mary Cowe; 3 Muriel Adam. Folded Napkin: 1 Roberta Burnett; 2 Mary Cowe; 3 Frances Mitchell.

The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks to Anne and Ali for a very entertaining evening and to the hostesses, Mary Cowe and Gill Duncan, for a very welcome tea.

The next meeting, which will be on December 3, will be a ‘Taste and Try’ evening, with each member bringing along a favourite dish for everyone to sample, which no doubt will be another evening to savour.
