Police Scotland have issued an appeal for witnesses following the theft of a car from outside a family home in Ellon.

The car, a Ford B-Max, registration DA62 HHC was stolen from Foresters Terrace in the town.

Sergeant Andy Sawers, of the Ellon Community Policing team, said: “I would appeal to anyone who was in the area that night and saw anything unusual to please get in touch as soon as possible quoting ref. no. 1505 of Aug 12.

“Likewise I would ask you to make contact with police if you have seen this vehicle or know where it might be.”

Sgt Sawers said that other instances of suspicious behaviour were also reported to Police Scotland on the same night.

He went on to say: “Officers have also been made aware of a couple of other instances of suspicious activity in the area that night.

“Nothing has been reported stolen however these calls are concerning nonetheless. It may be that these incidents are not linked however we are keeping a very open mind.

“As our inquiries progress I would encourage people who live in the area to ensure your property is locked up securely before you go to bed at night.

“Ellon is generally a very safe place to live however by not locking up before you go to sleep you are providing potential thieves with a much greater likelihood of success.”

Witnesses can contact Crimestoppers where they can provide information in confidence on: 0800 555111.
