Police hail operation a success

A multi-agency licensed premises operation held over the last two weekends in Garioch has been deemed a success following a check of over 40 licensed premises.

Officers from the Garioch Local Policing Team, along with Licensing Standards Officers carried out robust inspections of all the licensed premises within the area to ensure responsible trading, responsible drinking and to assist in reducing disorder and antisocial behaviour.

The operation saw officers visit licensed premises within the Garioch area over the weekends of November 7 and 8 and November 14 and 15, to ensure that the sale and supply of alcohol was being done in accordance with legislation.

Constable Shiree Miller said “We are delighted with the success of our operation, a total of 48 comprehensive checks were carried out to ensure premises are complying with legislation and responsible trading to assist in reducing alcohol fuelled violence, disorder and incidents linked to licensed premises.

“As we approach the busy festive period we want to promote responsible drinking and ensure licensed premises are playing their part in providing a safe environment for members of the public to enjoy their night out.

“During the two weekends of our initiative we have had zero alcohol related assaults or other types of violence in or around licensed premises.

“Police Scotland would like to pass on their thanks and appreciation to the licensees, door stewards, patrons and members of the public who were extremely positive and receptive to our presence carrying out this initiative”

Officers visited licensed premises across Garioch including Inverurie, Kemnay, Kintore, Newmachar and Insch
