Police have appealed for help in tracking down a gang targeting cash machines in the North-east.

Thousands of pounds have been stolen by raiders who have struck on separate occasions at dispensers in New Deer, Oldmeldrum, Inverurie and Bieldside, on the outskirts of Aberdeen.

Following the incident at New Deer, broken parts of the cash boxes taken from the machine were recovered nearby.

Detective Inspector Graeme Mackie, who is leading the inquiry, said: “We would appeal for members of the public to remain vigilant with regards to items which may have been deposited following the incident in Bieldside.

“What may initially appear to be dumped pieces of plastic or electrical equipment may in fact be evidence of the crimes we are investigating and I would urge anyone who finds anything they deem to be relevant to contact police.”
