The introduction of free parking slots in Aberdeenshire has been delayed.
It had been hoped the new regime would begin on December 1.
But it will now be phased in fully by the end of the year.
Councillors decided in May to introduce free parking periods across the region.
These will include a free 30-minute period at pay and display car parks in Ellon.
Ellon and District Councillor Rob Merson said: “The introduction of a free 30-minute period to encourage town centre shopping is one which was first proposed many months ago.
“It is disappointing that it has taken so long to be implemented, but I am delighted that it will now be introduced before the year end.”
Councillor Gillian Owen said: “In September I tried to be positive about the delay, but now I can only express frustration and I suspect those working on this project feel the same. I shall be monitoring this very carefully.”
The council’s head of transportation, Ewan Wallace, said: “The planned date of December 1 has slipped due to a slight delay in some back office processes.
“We are looking at a phased introduction town by town during December with full implementation in place by the end of the year.”
