Auchterellon School is gearing up for a big celebration later this month.
Preparations are being made for a 40th “Birthday Bash” on Friday, November 21, in the town’s Station Hotel.
Organisers are hoping adults past and present with an Auchterellon connection will attend the milestone event.
Although the school opened its doors on April 22, 1974, the formal opening took place on October 10 by the Marchioness of Aberdeen and Tremair.
Those present included head teacher Douglas Birse, county convener Maitland Mackie and education director James Michie.
The ceremony concluded with pupils staging a concert and the National Anthem.
The current roll at Auchterellon is around 400 pupils.
Various school activities are under way to mark the 40th milestone and these include children designing cards, balloons and making birthday cakes - culminating in the grand finale on November 21.
Entertainment on the night will be provided by Lady and the Tramps band from Peterhead.
Tickets costing £7.50 are available by contacting the school office, or by calling 01358 720863.
