Primary and secondary schools from across Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and Moray have until Friday, April 3, to submit their completed projects.
The ceremony will be held at Cineworld in Union Square on Friday, June 12 - which would have marked Anne Frank’s 86th birthday. In addition, all participating pupils will receive a certificate for their efforts.
The awards are once again being supported by Aberdeen-based commercial cleaning specialist CSG.
Adriana Sokolowska, awards coordinator at GREC, said: “We’re thoroughly looking forward to this year’s GREC Anne Frank Awards. It promises to be another successful event with schools from across the whole of the north-east expected to take part.
“I would like to thank everyone connected to CSG for their continued support which has been a major factor in the success of the awards to date.”
Alan Merchant, chairman of CSG, said: “It provides a valuable opportunity for pupils to showcase their fine work promoting diversity, equality and human rights.
“Initiatives such as the Anne Frank Awards play an important role in helping schoolchildren develop vital soft skills including communication and teamwork.”
The GREC Anne Frank Awards is an initiative encouraging schools to salute the moral courage of just one of millions who suffered as a result of Nazi persecution. Anne Frank died in a concentration camp, aged just 15.
It encourages primary and secondary pupils to contribute towards diversity, awareness and equality in any number of ways – via artwork, poetry and drama or the production of DVDs and multimedia presentations, through to dance, cultural studies and awareness weeks.
