First Minister Alex Salmond has congratulated two groups in his Aberdeenshire East constituency who have received a total of £6880 in ‘Awards for All’ support from the Big Lottery Fund.
Friends of Pitmedden School have received £6170 towards installing new outdoor play equipment in the school playground. The grant will fund a new sandpit, outdoor stage area, planters, seating, camouflage netting and a log train set.
The award meets the criteria of improving health in the community, by encouraging schoolchildren to be more active.
Busy Bee’s Playgroup (Turriff) received a grant of £710, which will allow them to take 40 children on a trip to the theatre in Aberdeen.
Awards for All Scotland is supported by Creative Scotland, SportScotland and the Big Lottery Fund.
Grants of between £500 and £10,000 are available for groups and projects that promote education, the environment and health in the local community.
