Mid-Formartine Councillor Paul Johnston has welcomed the news that Links Nursery in Balmedie has taken a significant step towards its recovery.
The nursery recently passed a final compliance visit from the Care Commission.
This has now resulted in the improvement notice, which was imposed upon the nursery earlier this year, being lifted.
Councillor Johnston said: “This is good news for the staff and those involved.
“They had a huge amount of work to do the following the comments from the inspection by the Care Commission previously.
“The lifting of the improvement notice is testimony to their hard work.”
The nursery was told by the Care Commission in June that it must make urgent improvements to its service including ensuring staff who work there have the necessary qualifications, skills and experience for their work.
Staff were also told to take action to ensure the safety and welfare needs of the children attending the nursery were met.
Councillor Johnston added: “It is also good news for parents in the Belhelvie/Balmedie area to have the facility available at Links Nursery again.
“However the Aberdeenshire education authority will also need to review the quality of provision before funding places again.
“I hope this can be done so that parents will have the confidence to place children at this nursery without concern at the quality of care and education.
“The care commission decision however does already indicate their ability to again care for our children locally.”
