Newburgh Mathers School recently participated in a litter pick in the beach area of the village.
The school’s communities group and eco group jointly planned the activity in support of Clean Up Scotland.
It is mass-engagement litter campaign that is seeking to establish Scotland as the cleanest country in Europe.
The organisation is spearheading community clear-up activities around the country to tackle the menace and at the same time working to change long-term behaviour by making, as it says, dropping litter as socially unacceptable as drink driving is today.
Newburgh head teacher Sinead Lindsay said the beach clear-up operation had been successful and the pupils had enjoyed taking part in the event.
