Dates have been announced by Aberdeenshire Council for upcoming community discussions on the future of the area’s schools estate.
In August last year, councillors approved the launch of a consultation on Aberdeenshire schools which will run until February 2012.
The first stage of the process took the form of an online questionnaire which ran in August and September. Aberdeenshire Council’s Education, Learning and Leisure Committee has gone on to approve the second stage of the consultation, which is taking the form of a series of community-based stakeholder events in venues across Aberdeenshire.
Committee chair Cllr Richard Stroud said: “The response to the initial questionnaire was very encouraging and this second phase will provide the opportunity for local views to be explored in more detail.”
Committee vice-chair Cllr Isobel Davidson added: “The dates have been scheduled to avoid the festive fortnight but we’re keen to involve as many people as possible in this very wide-ranging exercise.”
Local dates for the meetings, which will run from 7-9pm include Monday 12 December at Peterhead Academy; Tuesday 17 January at Meldrum Academy; Wednesday 18 January at Auchterellon School; Wednesday 25 January at Mintlaw Academy; and Thursday 2 February at Kintore Primary.
