Ellon Academy has been given a £10,000 boost through a community initiative by Tesco.
Its garden project has received the grant after the superstore teamed up with Greenspace Scotland to launch its Bags of Help scheme.
Good causes have been sharing in the £11.5million carrier bag charge fund.
There are currently two garden projects at Ellon Academy.
One is for pupils to enjoy growing and eating a range of fruit, vegetables, salad and herbs.
It will encourage wildlife with a range of planting and habitat boxes.
The other is the Memorial Garden. This will be a quiet, reflective space where pupils and staff lost in tragedies in recent years can be remembered.
Susan Swallow, teacher in the Additional Support for Learning department, said: “I am thrilled with the news. It means we can afford to lay proper paths to allow full access into both gardens here at the academy.
“Raising this amount of money would have taken us years. Now we can get started knowing the funds are there to do a good job.”
