Meiklemill Co-Op has donated a number of food items for Meiklemill School pupils to enjoy during their Christmas parties.
This is the second year that the store has given free fruit and reduced prices on its party food to the school, something they hope will continue in future years.
Co-op manager, Liam McHardy, said: “I went to school here and when Jonathan mentioned he needed food for the parties I said I would be more than happy to help.
“I asked my area manager if we would be able to donate something and he said yes.
“I am big on having good community links so if we have anything to give away we’ll offer it to the school first.”
School headteacher, Jonathan Cordiner, added: “It is good to see our local store support our school.
“It is a fantastic time of the year and all the children are excited to see Santa.
“We have 260 children to cater for and we initially looked to source our party food from other supermakets but Liam offered us our fruit for free and gave us massive reductions on our other food including choc ices, crisps and juice, it’s good to see the support.”
