To celebrate the opening at 8am the first one hundred shoppers in the queue were handed a golden envelope containing tickets to win a range of prizes.
Winners could walk away with a 40 inch LCD TV, to a Garmin Sat Nav and luxury bag of Aldi shopping.
Store manager, Steven Scott, said that he had been looking forward to the opening day.
He said: “We hope the local community will take advantage of our grand opening celebrations with 100 golden tickets up for grabs.
“We also have several stores roles available for job hunters in and around Ellon, and we will be actively recruiting during the next few weeks.”
So far the company have already taken on 15 staff members at the store, but are keen to fill another 20 roles.
Positions include roles in store management, with an Assistant Store Manager and four Deputy Store Manager posts.
Aldi opened their latest store in Inverurie last month couples with shops in Airdrie, Inverness and Greenock earlier this year. They plan to open another three stores across Scotland by the end of the year.
As well as the golden ticket giveaway, a number of Scottish suppliers will be offering up samples and tasters tomorrow (Friday, September 26) and Saturday, September 27.
On Friday the store will welcome Brownings the Bakers as well as Murdoch Allen from Hatton – Mrs McGregors Biscuits – Friday who will also be present on Saturday. Dean’s Shortbread – Saturday
During these two days there will also be chances to try some of Aldi’s Scottish Marinated Lamb Chops, Scottish Sirloin Steaks and Scottish Pork Medallions lines by the Quality Meat Scotland (QMS) brand ambassadors.

Aldi, located on Ythan Terrace, will be open from 8am to 9pm Monday-Saturday and from 10am to 7pm on a Sunday and has a car park with 117 car parking spaces.
