An Ellon bakery have came home with a top prize after their butteries have been recognised among the best in the North of Scotland.

The butteries at Ythan Bakery have been awarded the Regional Silver prize at the 2014 Scottish Baker of the Year Awards.

Owners Mike and Dawn and Gillan said: “We are extremely pleased to be recognised as one of Scotland’s best bakers.

“We take our business very seriously and use traditional methods and craftsmen’s skills to deliver quality every time.

“But we could not have come this far in the competition without our dedicated and skilled team and without the votes of all of our customers.

“Thank you.”

In April each of the categories were short listed and split into the three regions - Northern, Central and Southern Scotland. The judges then went on to pick Regional Gold, Silver and Bronze awards to each region at the awards ceremony held in Glasgow earlier this month.

Mich Turner MBE, owner of award winning Little Venice Cake Company and judge on ITV’s Britain’s Best Bakery presented the couple with their award.
