Cub Scouts from Ellon joined with around 1,000 Cubs from across the North East at the weekend to celebrate the centenary of Cub Scouts.
A celebratory Cubs100 camp was held at Aden Country Park near Mintlaw on Saturday and Sunday and had Cubs from across the North East taking part in more than 125 different activities based on the different continents.
The camp was part of a year-long birthday celebration for Cub Scouts throughout the UK, with events happening across the country including a sleepover at London Zoo and Cubs taking over Blackpool Pleasure Beach.
Commenting on the weekend event, Regional Commissioner, Dougie Simmers, told the Times: “The Cubs had an amzing time at the weekend and all the activities show just how much fun and adventure the Cub programme offers.
“None of this would be possible without the hard work of our adult volunteers and supporters who don’t just let this weekend happen, but give up theri time every week to keep Cub Scouting strong across the North East.”
Cubs100 Ambassador is TV presenter Steve Backshall.
He said: “Like me, Cub Scouts love adventure and the outdoors.
“That’s why I’m so excited to be Ambassador for Cubs100, the 2016 centenary of Cubs.
“With thousands of adventure camps, parties and other activities taking place right across the UK, we’re call it the Wildest Birthday Ever.”
Cub Scouts are young people between the ages of eight and ten-and-a-half and their programme involves a huge variety of activities.
