LAST week, the Times reported on 13-year old Ruby Edwards commitment to having her head shaved for Comic Relief 2013.

On Wednesday morning, the Ellon Academy pupil ventured to Artisan Hair Salon in Ellon Shopping Centre to carry out her promise.

Having attracted an incredible £2,202 since the start of her appeal, the teenager said that she was thrilled to be able to make such a significant donation to such a good cause.

As well as the money she has raised, Ruby is donating her long hair to charity, the Little Princess Trust, who will turn the hair into wigs for children undergoing chemotherapy, or living with alopecia.

Speaking during the procedure, the youngster said that she would be returning to school immediately afterwards, to be greeted by her friends. The Times asked if she had any regrets.

“No regrets,” she said. “I quite like it!”

Ruby is still collecting sponsorship, so anyone interested can still donate at http://my.rednoseday.com/sponsor/rubyedwards.
