The work of the Ellon First Responders and its fundraising supporters has been marked in the Scottish Parliament.

Three Ellon First Responders volunteers; Jackie Munro, Kirsten MacCallum and Shona Cartney, and their friends Diane Urquhart, Lynne Edwards, Dawn Birnie and Karen Emslie took part in the Ythan Challenge last month to raise money for the emergency group.

Their commitment to fundraising for the cause has been marked with a motion by North East region MSP Peter Chapman in the Parliament.

The Scottish Conservative has asked his colleagues to support the group.

Mr Chapman said: "The Ellon First Responders can save lives as they often get to medical emergencies before an ambulance can get to the scene.

"It would surprise many people to find out the wide range of emergency skills that can be learned as a volunteer."

Mr Chapman congratulated the group on their success.
