The run-up to Christmas officially got under way in Ellon on Saturday with the festive lights switch-on.
A busy day of activities in the town centre attracted the customary large crowds with a spectacular fireworks display to round off the events.
The switch-on ceremony was performed by local pupils Harry West and Anya Bramwell.
One of the highlights was the traditional parade through the town led by the local Legion Scotland Pipe Band and including Chinese dragons and drummers.
Entertainment was provided by, among others, the Ythan Fiddlers and Jake Coghill.
And the appearance of Santa delighted the many youngsters who also called into his grotto.
Various stalls were open for business featuring local groups and organisations.
