An Ellon man will lead a UK-wide campaign to inspire thousands of runners to smash their personal bests.
Jonathan Mackintosh was hand-picked from more than 500 applicants, to be one of just four ambassadors to spearhead the PUMA PB Challenge.
They will attempt to smash their PBs at 5k, 10k, half marathon, and marathon distances, encouraging as many runners as possible to join the PUMA sponsored challenge and do the same.
Jonathan was revealed as PUMA’s half marathon ambassador on running website The Running Bug, which is hosting the challenge.
The 41-year-old, who works as a web developer at the University of Aberdeen, said: “Despite running 16 ultramarathons and thousands of miles I’ve always struggled to increase my pace, so I’m really excited about this challenge - and hopefully I’ll be able to encourage one or two others to join me along the way.”
Jonathan will follow specialised training plans over the summer, receive support and advice from top coaches, nutritionists, and physios, and be kitted out head to toe in all the latest PUMA gear.
He’ll then attempt to smash his best half marathon time of 1.51.05 at The Great Scottish Run in Glasgow on October 6.
