Ellon Rotarians extended a warm welcome to 74 invited guests who attended the club’s inaugural Community Christmas Party.
The guests were welcomed by Rotary President Bob Black who also drew the winning ticket for a grocery hamper donated by Costcutters. All then tucked into a three course lunch, prepared by the Station Hotel and served by Rotarians.
Entertainment was provided by a newly formed choir of singers from Ellon Inner Wheel and Ellon Rotary Club. Conducted by Helen Mcleod, the singers got guests into the Christmas mood with a range of familiar carols.
A bit of fun was provided by the old favourite pass the parcel. At each table two lucky people found a red star under their saucer. When Santa arrived with a sack full of presents he visited the red star winners who received a small present.
The party mood continued with the Steve Ransome Band. Dayna sang a selection of modern popular songs while mum Shirley sang a selection of Scottish ballads accompanied on keyboard by Steve, the keyboard tutor at Ellon music school Skin Deep. Dayna then changed into her Highland dancing outfit and held the audience spellbound with her nimble footwork. The party mood continued with Rotarians dancing the Gay Gordons with some of their guests.
Stephen Burnett Community Services convener and committee member Dennis Stewart were thanked for their organisation of the party.
