Ellon Round Table members are celebrating another successful year of Santa collections.
The collections started on Sunday, December 9 in Newburgh and continued every night in different Ellon neighbourhoods until Saturday, December 15.
Speaking to the Times Ellon Round Table member, George Stewart, said: “The Santa collections went very well.
“Despite the terrible weather most of the week we managed to cover more of the town than we’ve ever done before.
“We were sorry not to visit the Castleton and Castlewell estates but the weather became too much. Hopefully next year we’ll make it.
“The reason we were able to cover as much of the town as we did was due to the unbelievable support from the Meadows 04 and girls football teams as well as the huge support from family and friends.
“We managed to collect over £5,000 to donate back to the local community. We also collected over 500 gifts to donate to Cash for Kids.
“An awesome effort and we can’t thank the people of Ellon enough for coming out to support us. Makes us all proud to be a part of this community.”
“We also sold Christmas Trees this year for the second time.
“We sold 66 trees and managed to raise just over £700 which we are donating to Round Table Children’s Wish. This charity grants handcrafted wishes to children with life shortening illnesses.”
Any men aged 18 to 45 who would like to get involved with the group should visit the Ellon Round Table Facebook page or call George on 07731 560837.
George added: “We’re a friendly group who like to try different things while making new friends and giving back to our community.”
