A local lottery winner celebrated a National Lottery milestone this week with the delivery of a millionaire worthy gold playstation to the shop where she bought her winning ticket.
Since the first draw on 19 November 1994, The National Lottery has now created an amazing 5,000 millionaires and the last 1,000 have been made in just 29 months, at the rate of more than one every day.
In the AB postcode district, 44 millionaires have been created and 269 prizes of £50,000 or more have been paid out to those lucky winners.
Ellon lottery winner Libby McRae was chatting to a friend in the queue at the town's Tesco store in August 2012 when she decided to use an extra pound coin in her pocket for another lucky dip. Her spur of the moment spending paid off as this made Libby the proud holder of a £2.1M winning National Lottery ticket.
Returning to the shop on Wednesday, June 6, Libby revealed the limited-edition gold playstation to surprised shoppers.
Giving it her own stamp of approval with a gold handprint, lucky Libby wrote a message of good fortune to all future players directly onto the gold playstation.
“Since the win so much has changed for me. I’ve been able to enjoy adventures, sunshine-filled holidays and a new car - all of which has given me the life I could only have dreamt of," she said.
“I’m hoping that this gold playstation will bring some extra luck to Ellon and let people know that if it could happen for me, then it can happen for them too.”
Jen Ramsay, Checkout Manager at Tesco, was happy to see Libby again and thanked her for her ongoing support.
“It’s amazing to think there are now 5,000 lottery millionaires across the UK who have all enjoyed the same winning experience as Libby did almost six years ago, a moment which for many starts at the National Lottery playstation in their local shop," she said.
“All my colleagues here are so pleased to have our very own gold playstation in store and be able to bring some extra luck to the town. Hopefully there will be more Ellon winners who can join the 44 lottery millionaires already made in the AB postcode area alone.”
