Ellon Community Council expects to learn later this month the costs of proposals to light up one of the town’s oldest landmarks.
At their recent meeting, members praised Aberdeenshire Council’s lighting department for the organisation of a trial last month to illuminate the Auld Brig.
Chairman Sandy McDougall said they expect to receive a costed proposal from the local authority and then members will decide whether to embark on a fundraising exercise.
The council have said they will provide professional and techical advice and give an insight to what the community council might progress with to turn the project into a reality.
Meanwhile, the community council is urging people to attend a local authority briefing session later this month as part of consultation on the new local development plan. It will be held at Ellon’s New Inn on Tuesday, November 12, at 7pm.
The community council will respond to the consultation early next year and would welcome views to inform their response.
Meanwhile, following the success earlier in the year of the Fit Like Ellon event, council members have invited the Meadows Sports Development Trust to work with them in 2014 to arrange a similar event to showcase the variety of sports and leisure opportunities available.
