Latest in Haddo regeneration project

It IS now some weeks since CHAP construction took up residence in the old shop opposite the car park at Haddo House and Country Park, from where they are supervising and overseeing the Heritage Lottery, Leader and History Scotland Funded regenerated project.

The weather has held up progress of some of the activities over the past few weeks, but the Pheasantry toilet block has been one of the first projects to be started and once completed the upgraded facilities will be a welcome improvement and within easy walking distance of a new play area at the rear of the Pheasantry building. In the meantime temporary facilities, including a disabled toilet, are available for public use to the rear of the building.

The area around the Pheasantry is also being developed and a new children’s play facility will be installed by Aberdeenshire Council Landscape Services Department during the regeneration project. The play and picnic area will be in the old quarry, where until recently, the sheds and equipment for the maintenance team had been located. Other activities within the parkland itself over the past few weeks have included pruning and cutting back of trees.

There is still an abundance of trees in the new woodland walk at Craigie wood, the pathways are now well under construction and we hope, weather permitting, it will ready and open in time for some of our summer visitors to experience.
