A brand new Aberdeenshire food and drink festival has been officially launched to encourage the North-east to eat, drink and explore local produce.
“Feast North East”, an innovative three-month food and drink festival for Inverurie and the surrounding areas, will take place from June to August this summer and will showcase the very best food and drink producers, farmers, independent retailers and eating establishments in the region.
The inaugural festival, which will embrace Scotland’s Year of Food and Drink, will comprise of a summer full of events and activities organised by the local businesses from the area, including family fun days, tasting events, foraging tours, cooking demonstrations, product launches and meet the producer days.
Feast North East, which is supported by Aberdeenshire Council, aims to raise awareness of the diverse quality food and drink sector in the area and engage with local businesses to create new food and drink experiences to attract visitors to the area and increase footfall during Scotland’s Year of Food and Drink.
Doug Milne, Aberdeenshire Council’s Garioch Area Manager, said: “It is fair to say, Inverurie and the surrounding areas has an abundance of fantastic food and drink businesses that work very hard to produce exceptional products and goods for the North-east. As part of Feast North East, we are inviting businesses to use their imagination to plan events or activities that will showcase their offerings, raise awareness and attract visitors to the area.”
Councillor Fergus Hood, Chair of the Garioch Area Committee, said: “2015 is a big year for Scotland’s food and drink, and we hope Feast North East will play a key role in helping to bring together the businesses and community so we can celebrate and discover all of the wonderful food and drink businesses in the area throughout the summer months.”

Events taking place all over the country throughout 2015 will celebrate the natural larder and skilled producers that make our country a land of Food and Drink. The festival’s programme of events promoting producers, retailers and hospitality businesses over several months will encourage people from the region and visitors alike to engage with and discover local food and drink.”
The first official Feast North East event will take place at Taste of Grampian on Saturday, June 6, with further event details to be announced over the next few months.
