A group of local ladies have completed the Ythan Challenge in aid of the Ellon First Responders.

The group included three Ellon First Responders volunteers; Jackie Munro, Kirsten MacCallum and Shona Cartney, and their friends Diane Urquhart, Lynne Edwards, Dawn Birnie and Karen Emslie.

The 2018 Ythan Challenge was held on Sunday, June 24.

Each participant was given a trophy to mark their achievement.

Jackie said: “I managed to complete last year’s Ythan Challenge with the help and support of my team, and in the euphoria of my achievement I signed up for the 2018 race as soon as the ticket sales went live.

“We all did really well, we excelled, which is great as four members of the team had never taken part in the Ythan Challenge before.

“The team of responders has grown over the last year and continues to consist of very caring individuals working hard as a team of volunteers alongside the Scottish Ambulance Service to help those in emergency health situations within our community.

“These amazing guys give up their free time, their weekends and they get out of bed in the middle of the night too to help make a difference, despite many of them holding down full time jobs and hectic family lives.

The money raised will go to the Ellon First Responders and help them purchase vital life-saving pieces of equipment, and ensure that the group can continue to run and save lives in the north east.
