As Councillors wished Keith Newton well on his retirement after serving 13 years as Formartine Area Manager, a new replacement for the role has been announced.
Elaine Brown is to take up the post in the early New Year and has said she is “very pleased” about her new venture.
Garioch Area Manager Doug Milne will continue stepping in as interim area manager until Mrs Brown officially starts the post.
The job plays a vital role in the council’s efforts to work with local communities, and organisations, in order to provide a high standard of services as well as achieving goals.
The post will also see Elaine work closely with the councillors and manage the running of the local area committee.
Elaine knows all too well about management after working at NHS Grampian as a Modernisation Programme Manager for 13 years.
Mrs Brown said: “I am very pleased to have been appointed to the role of Formartine Area Manager.
“I look forward to the challenge of ensuring we deliver the best services we can for residents of Formartine.
“Working in partnership with key public and private sector organisations has been an important part of my previous roles and I am committed to continuing that work for Aberdeenshire Council.”
Ellon and District Councillor Rob Merson, said: “Keith was a dedicated area manager who worked incredibly hard and made an important difference to the Formartine area.
“His absence is already felt by Formartine’s elected members and communities, but we wish him well in his retirement.”
“I look forward to working with Elaine Brown whom I expect will bring fresh ideas and enthusiasm to the post.”
