Ellon Ladies Ball went with a swing and provided a major boost for local charities.
The annual event, held recently in the New Inn Hotel, raised £800 from a raffle and a further £600 from an auction.
The ball is a popular evening in the local social calendar and organisers rated this year’s a huge success.
Committee member Hazel Wilkins, who is standing down after 19 years of helping to organise the event, said: “Everyone had a wonderful time with good food and dancing.
“Guests commented on how much they had enjoyed the evening and everyone left with smiles on their faces.”
She and her husband Brian have attended the ball for nearly 30 years since they moved to Ellon.
Organisers have thanked everyone who donated a prize to the raffle and auction, and who contributed to the success of the night.
Ellon Ladies Ball was started in 1956, although its origins go back to 1949, when it was believed to have been called the Ellon Farmers Ball.
