A local man will ‘Brave the Shave’ to raise money for charity on Friday night.
Gordon Moir of Drumwhindle will have both his head and beard shaved to raise cash for Macmillan Nurses.
Speaking to the Times Gordon said: “I’m doing this to raise money for the Macmillan Nurses as they have been a tremendous help to my wife, Linda.
“They help us to fill out forms, with medication and they also speak to the family.
“We have two young grandchildren and it is hard for them to understand what is going on.
“The contact that we have is excellent but it’s unfortunate that they have been brought in at a hard time.
“They do help to lighten the load and they are a great support because they know what you are going through.”
Gordon added: “I have cancer too but you just have to get on with it - you can either fight it to the end or just give up.
“There are times you will feel down, ill or sore but the Macmillan Nurses and other charities help you to be positive and I wanted to give something back.”
Gordon’s ‘Brave the Shave’ event will be held at the Ellon British Legion at 8pm on September 29 and everyone is invited to go along and show their support.
