Ellon & District Art Group members exhibited some of their finest arts and crafts in the Grand Marquee at Ellon Castle Gardens as part of the North East Open Studios (NEOS) Festival last weekend.
One of over 250 venues throughout the North East of Scotland , Ellon Art at Castle Gardens, NEOS entry no.77, was a wee bit special.
Around 100 visitors turned out and braved the heavy rain to view and enjoy paintings and other crafts on show.
EOS is the largest group of Artists and Craft Makers in Scotland and EDAG’s Ellon Art at Castle Gardens had nine members taking part.
Familiar items on display to visitors were original oil, acrylic and watercolour paintings and alongside these were new introductions of paintings done with stitch and thread, and clay polymer plaques by Valerie Hudson.
If you enjoy Arts and Crafts you’ll love this as something a wee bit different and somewhat novel in its setting.
The NEOS philosophy for these Open Studios is for the public to meet and engage with the Artists and Craft Makers themselves and certainly a lot of discussion and face to face interaction took place.
Sales were mainly of gift cards and smaller craft items with the odd painting commission being made and an original painting sold.
All in all, despite the inclement weather, there was a steady flow of Visitors and those attending most certainly appeared to enjoy themselves judged by the favourable comments made in the EDAG Visitors’ Book.
The Exhibition continues on Friday 15 as well as Saturday 16 and Sunday 17 September and the Artists and Craft Makers are looking forward to meeting with even more visitors to enjoy their exhibition.
Opening times is 11am - 4pm.
